CLINIC VISIT PROTOCOL
We have introduced a structured protocol for such visits in order to maintain the safety of our patients and staff during these difficult times.
Arrival/entry/departure from the premises
Telephone the clinic on 01727 850925 or come to our front door and press the intercom button to announce your arrival. If your telephone call goes to answerphone please leave a message and you will be called back by the physiotherapist once they have sanitised the treatment room and are ready for your appointment session.
Please wear a MASK or FACE COVERING for the entirety of your visit.
You will be asked to confirm that you do not have any current symptoms of Covid-19 (fever/raised temperature, loss of taste/smell, new persistent cough, breathlessness more than normal, persistent headache in past 14 days);
1. that you have not been requested to self-isolate within the last 14 days;
2. not had a positive test for Covid-19 in the past 14 days;
3. not returned from foreign travel in the past 14 days;
4. not currently in receipt of an active “shielding” letter from HM Government or GP;
5. do not have anyone within your household currently suffering symptoms of Covid-19 or self-isolating.
If you are accompanying a juvenile (under 18 years old) you will both be required to confirm the above list. The same applies for anyone who is accompanied by a carer/assistant, though ideally you should not be accompanied as we are trying to keep contacts to a minimum.
There will be NO TOILET or WAITING ROOM FACILITIES within the practice.
If you need to use the bannisters on the stairs please wear gloves to avoid any potential spread.
Please bring your own pen (to avoid cross contamination) in order to sign documentation such as consent to treatment forms.
Inside the clinic/practice
You will be asked to wash your hands on entry and also on leaving.
Your temperature will be taken using a “non-contact” machine.
The windows and doors to the treatment rooms will remain open/ajar in order to maintain an air flow. Blinds and screens will be used where required to maintain privacy.
Your physiotherapist will be wearing PPE (scrubs, apron, gloves, mask, visor). Aprons and gloves will be changed for each appointment.
Couches, pillows, equipment etc. will all be cleaned between appointments (hence the delay on initial entry to the practice).
SOCIAL DISTANCING will be practiced for as long as possible within your appointment as there is a limit of 15 minutes where your physiotherapist can be within 2 meters in order to conduct any physical examination and/or treatment techniques. The treatment room will be arranged so that patient and practitioner will be seated more than 2 meters apart for any verbal discussion.
PAYMENTS will be taken mainly by using our card machine which will be thoroughly cleansed following each transaction.
RECEPTION staff will be situated behind a Perspex screen for their (and your) protection – please do not try to peer around the sides in order to communicate with them.
CONSENT TO TREATMENT during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to our usual obligatory paperwork where patients are requested to give their consent with 3 signatures (gathering personal data; payment options; consent to treatment), we have been advised by our professional body that specific consent is required regarding the specific risk of Covid-19 virus transmission and the potential consequences as a result of undergoing face to face physiotherapy consultation. A copy of the consent form is attached to this email for you to have plenty of time to study this prior to your consultation. If there are any questions regarding any aspect you do not understand or any questions regarding the potential risks then please ask your physiotherapist. You will be asked to sign this form at the start of your consultation. If you do not wish to proceed with a face to face consultation then please make this known to your physiotherapist.
