Introduction to Sports Massage
Sports massage has an important role to play in the life of any athlete/sports person whether injured or not.
Massage has a number of benefits, physical, physiological and psychological.
How can Physio2go help?
Sports massage is not just for the high level athlete. Anyone with a loss of flexibility and tightness within muscle groups would benefit. Examples would be those who suffer with tension/tightness in their neck and shoulders from poor posture whilst sitting at their computer or low back pain after gardening.
All sports massage appointments are tailored to each individual’s needs and are carried out by our fully qualified Sports Massage therapists, Sue King, Stephanie Martin-Smith and Laurence Blow.
- Prevent injuries and loss of flexibility/mobility
- Speed up healing in injured muscle tissue
- Decrease recovery time after strenuous exercise
- Reduce swelling at joints
- Boost performance
You will need to expose the part to be massaged; your therapist will use a variety of massage techniques to identify your problem areas. The tissues will then be worked on; oil or massage cream may be used.
